Ross Mitchell, 21, raised enough to pay a Hospice nurse's wages for a day and provide six hot meals for a patient.
He got the idea after a slight accident when he was shaving his boyfriend Liam Holden's hair, which resulted in a bald patch.
Ross said his mum was amazed and proud that he went through with the headshave as she knew how much her son loved his hair.
"I keep going to flick my hair and it feels strange that it isn't there anymore. I don't like it and I will be glad when it starts to grow back," he added.
Ross chose to support the Hospice because it is local and he knows the money will be put to good use.
He said: "Liam and I had a look at the leaflets in reception at the Hospice while we were there and we are keen to help out with the Stephen Project."
The couple are also thinking of taking on another challenge – the five-mile Load of Pants sponsored walk, which takes place in Nowton Park, on July 8.
Liz Spillane, Hospice Community Fundraiser, said: "I'm sorry Ross misses his hair, but the Hospice is very grateful that he was sponsored to have it shaved off. The funds will be put to good use."
