Parents and carers in Sudbury have been reminded by Suffolk County Council that they only have until Friday January 13 to submit primary school or middle school applications for their child.

Graham Newman, portfolio-holder for Schools at Suffolk County Council said: "I would urge all parents and carers to make an application by the deadline to give them the best chance of securing a place at their preferred school."

Because of changes to the Admissions Oversubscription Criteria, Suffolk County Council is no longer able to guarantee a place in a catchment area school. It is being strongly recommended that parents and carers in Sudbury put more than one school on their application form.

If you have not yet completed the application form for your child please click here to apply online. You can also complete a Common Application Form (CAF1) which is available from your child's school or by phoning 0845 600 0981.

It is very important that you apply by Friday January 13 as places will be given first to those who applied by the closing date. If you do not bother to fill out an application form or do not apply by the closing date the School Admissions Team will decide on what places are offered based on which schools have spaces.

Sudbury parents and carers will have to wait until Tuesday April 17 to find out which school places that their child has been offered.

Very interesting point. Do you think Suffolk County Council should change it back to the way it used to be?

Too much bureaucracy around these days. Who agrees with me?
